Statement on our involvement in the
Haiti earthquake
The Caribbean Development Organization
joins other organizations and concerned citizens around the world in
grieving over the losses incurred as a result of the January 12th
earthquake in Haiti. CDO does not have the capacity to work in the
area of disaster relief. We are currently speaking with our
collaborators on the ground in Haiti to assess the situation and explore
options for how we can most effectively be involved in recovery efforts.
CDO is not raising funds for earthquake
relief through its website, as we recommend individuals donate to
organizations that are involved in immediate relief efforts. We
will resume fundraising once operations move from the recovery to the
rebuilding stage.
CDO board members are involved in local
fundraising efforts and funds are being donated to the Red Cross and
Habitat for Humanity.
CDO has sent funds to its
collaborators in Haiti to assist these
individuals and their families in this time of need.
